Weengallon makes national headlines
The annual Weengallon Pink Ladies Day is attracting national media attention this year.
Chanel Ten is sending a team from The Project to cover the bush charity day on Wednesday the 19th of August.2015 Weengallon Picnic Pink Ladies Day Co-ordinator Janene Bowman confirmed the national publication Yours Magazine is also attending and that ABC Afternoons Presenter Kelly Higgins Devine will broadcast her program live from Weengallon.
We’ve always had strong local media support and I think the state and national attention we are receiving this year shows how inspiring our story is of a small rural community that is achieving big things.Mrs Bowman said 600 women will sit down this year for their picnic inspired indoor lunch.
We are really hoping, with our glamourous bush charity event in the spotlight, that the women will take the opportunity to dress up in pink or fun bright colours so we can show the metropolitan audience just how elegantly we do things out here.
Every year the day raises around $30,000 to support the position of the local breast care nurse Lana Russell and the Olive McMahon Lodge in Toowoomba which provides free accommodation for country cancer patients.
